Ahhh, The Honeymoon…Finally!

Our plan was always to wait and not honeymoon right after the wedding.  We didn’t want to sleep through half of it, and lounging on a beach is hard work, right?  The wait I haven’t minded, and it’s been nice to have something to look forward to, but the flights are booked and it finally feels real!

We both LOVE to travel and have talked about several amazing places we would like to go. Southeast Asia was our top choice, but because it is rainy season there now, we are going to Greece, which will be equally amazing I’m sure.  With views like this how could it not be?

One thing I wish we would have done is created a honeymoon registry. I did a bunch of research on various sites that offer them, but ultimately we didn’t feel right about registering for something we hadn’t even started to plan yet.  In hindsight this ended up being the right decision since we ultimately had to change our original plans due to unforeseen circumstances.

That said, the honeymoon registry is a great concept. I personally like giving gifts that tell a story or create a memory. So, what could be a more perfect way than giving a gift by the way of a dinner at a special restaurant, a pool side massage, or a welcome bottle of champagne?

Or maybe even this?  A sunset cruise on a sailboat.

Hmmm…yes, please!  The possibilities are endless for what you can register for.  Kinda cool, right?

Another cool idea for your thank you cards.  How about sending a card with a picture of you and the mister enjoying their gift on your honeymoon with a nice note?  It would definitely be more personable than the standard thank you card.

So, if you know where you are going on your honeymoon or think you will by the time you register then you might think about setting up a registry for your honeymoon. It’s a fun, memorable gift giving option for your guests and also helps your overall honeymoon budget. A win-win if you ask me.

Some sites that I had thought about using:

Traveler’s Joy. I really like how many options this site has to offer design-wise for you to choose from when setting up your custom registry page, letting you create a page that is personable.

Honeyfund. I was really drawn to the name. Adorable, isn’t it?

Send Us Off. This site offers a wedding website option as well, both for free, which could be nice to create and get both things done at once.

All in all the sites are fairly similar and offer a lot of information and sample registries that give you a sense of how they work and what they will look like. However, some charge an added fee to your guests for using the service or make you use their travel agencies to book your trip, so make sure to read the ‘fine’ print.

Now, please excuse me. I can’t stop dreaming of being here, soon.

Where are you dreaming of being?
